Teacher

Diane's involvement with the arts began at age two. Though some of her abilities may have come naturally, her gift for teaching with joy was shaped by years of practical discovery about what works best with children.

She has taught in more than one hundred schools, including preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, special-needs schools, university settings, as well as with seniors and home-schoolers.

Under Nobel Prize winner Reverend Leon Sullivan, Diane designed creative programs for children's centers in Philadelphia. She also taught art at the Widener School for the Handicapped.

Her book, Piece of Cake Art Lessons for Children of All Ages™, has received strong praise as a workbook for parents, teachers, and children alike.

Education

Diane Phillips attended the Philadelphia College of Art on full scholarship and apprenticed with renowned art therapist Ethel Mary Honore.

She received her BFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, and also pursued graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh.

Her educational path reflects both fine-art discipline and a lifelong commitment to practical, human-centered teaching.

Accomplishments

Diane's accomplishments include children's book illustration for major publishers such as Disney and Western Press.

As an educator, she has helped develop art and math curricula for (28) private schools in the United States.

She has also produced for television and video, as well as for America's Bicentennial celebration, community service concerts, and art festivals.

For her work with young children, Diane received the Brazilian Gold Medal from the highly respected Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential.

Founder: Make A Difference!

Diane founded the non-profit organization Make A Dif! Inc.™, bringing together internationally recognized artists, authors, entrepreneurs, and mentors in support of betterment for children, parents, teachers, caregivers, and more mature adults and seniors.

As a spokesperson for Make A Dif! Inc.™, she hosted a weekly half-hour radio show in the Orlando area called Making A Difference!™, promoting and mentoring achievement.

Funds from Make A Dif! Inc.™ have also supported the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, a respected international mentoring group focused on optimum parenting and early childhood development for both well and special-needs families.

eKids 4 Kids (eK4K)

Diane also formed e-Kids 4 Kids (eK4K)™, a division of Make A Dif! Inc.™, to create international opportunities for the promotion and distribution of products created by children, for children.

One of the earliest examples was a book by a ten-year-old child titled Small™.

The heart of eK4K is simple: help children create, contribute, and be taken seriously as capable young originators.

Diane Phillips Learning

Diane's learning materials have included what she described as Piece of Cake Learning™ — resources designed to make learning appetizing, fun, and exciting rather than boring or burdensome.

Rather than separating creative expression from practical skills, her work brings them together in a way that supports enjoyment, retention, and confidence.
